MALARIA PROPHYLAXIS
Malaria, also known as malaria, causes the death of about one million people worldwide each year. It is the most common infectious disease, affecting between 350 and 500 million people every year. The risk of contracting malaria depends on the destination country and the type of travel. This disease occurs in more than a hundred countries of the tropical and subtropical zones. Poland, recognized by the WHO as free of endemic malaria since 1968, continues to record cases imported from abroad.
Causes and prevention of malaria
Malaria is caused by protozoa of the genus Plasmodium, which are transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles. The first line of defense against malaria is to avoid mosquito bites by using repellents, appropriate clothing and mosquito nets. The second important factor is taking prophylactic drugs that eliminate the introduced plasmodium.
