About Urology
"
“” The kidneys are the body's regulator, blood plasma is filtered through them more than 30 times a day!“”
Urology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system in men and women. This important area of medicine aims to both prevent and treat various diseases affecting the urinary and genital systems.
As part of urology, specialists diagnose and treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions, such as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, bladder problems, sexual dysfunction, infertility, as well as cancers of the genitourinary system.
If you experience any symptoms such as pain when urinating, frequent urination, difficulty urinating, hematuria, erection problems or painful swelling of the scrotum, be sure to consult a urologist. Whether your symptoms are acute infections or chronic conditions, a urologist can perform the appropriate tests and recommend appropriate treatment to relieve symptoms and improve your health.

Urinary incontinence – a discreet problem, effective solutions
Urinary incontinence is a problem that can affect people of all ages, affecting the comfort of life and daily functioning. At Life Medical Center, we offer a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. To learn more about the available treatments, please visit our dedicated page.
Prevention of urinary tract diseases
To avoid urinary tract infections, you should take preventive measures, including:
- Maintain regular personal hygiene and change underwear frequently to reduce the risk of bacteria penetrating the urinary tract.
- Protecting the body, especially the kidneys, from cooling down, which helps keep the immune system in good shape.
- Choose loose, airy underwear to avoid skin irritation and reduce the risk of infection.
- Effective treatment of throat, sinus, tonsil infections to eliminate the source of bacteria.
- Empty your bladder regularly, which prevents bacteria from building up and growing in your bladder.

One of the factors that have a significant impact on the proper functioning of the urinary system is diet. It is worth paying attention to limiting the intake of salt, products rich in oxalates (for example, sorrel and rhubarb) and calcium, which can be dangerous for people with chronic kidney failure. These substances can affect the difficult absorption of water and promote the formation of deposits and stones in the urinary system. It is also important to drink the right amount of fluids, which is about 2-2.5 liters a day. This will allow you to rinse off deposits of mineral salts and bacteria. Water deficiency can lead to the production of more dense urine, which in turn can cause kidney damage.
The most common urological procedures

Vasectomy – an effective and safe method of contraception
Vasectomy is a modern, permanent method of contraception for men, consisting in cutting the vas deferens. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, takes about 30 minutes and does not require hospitalization. It does not affect libido, hormone levels, or sexual sensations.
At LIFE Medical Center, vasectomy is performed by experienced urologists using minimally invasive techniques. It is an excellent choice for men who do not plan to have children. We provide full support – from consultation to follow-up after treatment.
Circumcision – treatment of phimosis in adults
Circumcision is a simple procedure to remove the foreskin, most often performed in the treatment of phimosis. It helps to improve hygiene, prevents infections and can improve the comfort of intimate life. The procedure takes about 30-60 minutes and is carried out under local anesthesia.
At LIFE Medical Center, we perform circumcision using modern methods, with quick healing and minimal discomfort. It is an effective solution for patients with recurrent inflammation or problems during intercourse.

Genitourinary diagnostics
Cystoscopy
The method allows for a detailed visual inspection of the inside of the bladder and urinary tract. Flexible cystoscopy is a safe and effective test used to detect urinary tract diseases such as kidney stones, infections or bladder tumors.
The examination lasts from a few to several minutes. The patient lies on a special chair, and the urologist inserts a flexible tube with a camera through the urethra. During the procedure, fluid can be injected into the bladder, allowing for better visualization of the inside of the bladder. It is possible to take samples for histopathological examination if abnormalities are detected.

Stockholm3
It is a groundbreaking blood test that redefines the approach to prostate cancer diagnosis. Unlike traditional methods such as PSA, it uses advanced analysis of five protein biomarkers, more than a hundred genetic markers, and detailed clinical data of the patient, such as age and family history. As a result, the test allows you to accurately assess the risk of aggressive cancer, while reducing the number of unnecessary biopsies by up to 50%.
Our clinic is one of the few in Poland that offer this innovative test, which is now considered the new “gold standard” in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Stockholm3 is especially recommended for men with elevated PSA or other risk factors, providing greater accuracy and patient comfort. This modern approach allows for earlier detection of the disease and better adjustment of the treatment plan, which significantly increases the chances of effective therapy.
Botulinum toxin injection of the bladder
A modern treatment used to treat an overactive bladder that does not respond to traditional treatments. Botulinum toxin works by reducing spasms in the bladder muscles, which reduces the frequency and suddenness of urgency and urinary incontinence. Botulinum toxin injection of the bladder is an effective and minimally invasive method to improve the quality of life of patients with an overactive bladder.
The effects of botulinum toxin injections last from 6 to 12 months. The patient may feel relief from symptoms as early as a few days after the procedure. Regular check-ups with your urologist are recommended to monitor the condition of your bladder and the effectiveness of treatment.

Intravesical infusion Ialuril® Prefill
It is an innovative preparation used in the treatment of bladder diseases, such as interstitial cystitis, painful bladder syndrome or recurrent infections. The preparation contains hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate, which work together to rebuild the natural protective layer of the bladder mucosa, which helps to reduce inflammation and pain.
The procedure involves administering the drug directly to the bladder, which ensures effective and quick action. Ialuril® Prefill restores the balance of the bladder, reduces pain and protects against further damage to the mucosa. Regular use can provide relief to patients suffering from chronic bladder conditions and significantly improve quality of life.
BCG Therapy
BCG (intravesical immunotherapy) treatment is the standard method used in patients with non-infiltrating bladder cancer at high risk of recurrence or progression. It involves administering a vaccine containing live BCG bacilli directly into the bladder, which activate the immune system to fight cancer cells.
When is BCG treatment used?
BCG therapy is recommended after transurethral tumor resection (TURBT) in patients with:
-
tumours at high risk of recurrence,
-
multifocal lesions,
-
carcinoma in situ (CIS).
What does the therapy look like?
BCG treatment is administered in cycles – first induction and then maintenance, according to individual doctor’s recommendations. Therapy requires regular visits and close monitoring of the effects.
Why?
BCG is currently the most effective method to reduce the risk of recurrence and progression of non-infiltrating bladder cancer. With properly conducted therapy, it is possible to maintain long-term remission of the disease.
If you have had a bladder tumor resection or need a consultation on BCG treatment – contact us and make an appointment with a urologist specialist.
